The Stockton Record's "Literacy and Book Fair - Family Day at the Park," held on September 23, 2006, was a huge event that included many vendors, educational booths, food and fun for the entire family. Destiny Rodriguez, Laine Hendricks, and Joshua Stark from the Pacific Region came to table at the event with great success in youth and community outreach by bringing awareness of park issues to participants at the event. Rodriguez and Hendricks created a National Park Journal for children ages Kindergarten though sixth grade.

The children were able to put together the journals, making each one individually different and unique. The National Park Journals were a favorite of both children and parents, as it was a creative tool to teach children about the national parks, conservation practices, and safety tips when visiting the parks. The journals also provided fun park facts and educational games to further expose the children to national park issues.
